Entrance Procedure

Entrance Examination Information

Application

Our next assessment for September 2013 entry, is taking place on Tuesday 15th January from 10.30am until 2pm.

In order to book a place for your son, please return a registration form along with a cheque for £100 (£50 registration fee, £50 examination fee)

Assessment

The assessment consists of objective tests concentrating on numeracy, literacy and non-verbal reasoning skills that will enable us to see what level your son is currently performing at and where his strengths lie. There will also be an essay assignment.

For entry into Year 9, 10 or 11, a French or German assessment will be required for those wishing to study either language.

Interviews

Assuming a qualifying performance in this assessment, your son would then be invited to attend an interview day at the school.

These take place within 2 weeks for the assessment, and are usually on a Tuesday from 10.20 am until 12.20 pm.

They will be assessed in an attitudinal test; will meet our current  students and take part in a lesson.

The Headmaster will see the boys for their interviews individually. They may bring things with them if they wish.

There is also a team building exercise that they will be required to take part in.

Offer of a place

If an offer is made a letter will be sent out with the marks from the assessment and comments from the interview.

If a place is offered there will be an acceptance form to fill out and return with a cheque for £750 to secure the place.

If there is an offer to sit a scholarship, no acceptance form is attached and follow up is needed to confirm attendance to the scholarship examination.

An offer will then be sent out after the exam, with or without a scholarship award, with the acceptance form attached.

Year 7-10 Applications

Entrance into Years 7-10 is by entrance examination and interview only. Before interview, a reference is required from your Son's current school, that we will request.

Year 11 Applications

A small number of students may admitted into Year 11 each year. However, there are quite a few things to consider. We need to make sure that the same exam boards have been covered and that their knowledge of work covered in year 10 is strong.

Assessments in GCSE Maths and English will need to be sat.

Year 12 Applications

Entry into Year 12 is by means of an interview, predicted grades and reference from current school. A provisional offer will be made after the interview, assuming required grades are met.

Year 13 Application

Entry into year 13 is by means of an interview and AS results. We would need to ensure that the exam boards match, and that enough work has been covered during Year 12.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to call the School Registrar, Sarah Pelendrides, on 0208 427 1220.
